My Bio

Grand Isle needs a State’s Attorney focused on prompt, full justice for victims. We need to address the immediate harm, but also look beyond it to what is broken and how we can fix it. The traditional system can run defendants through a machine, extracting money and resources from our community through fines, fees, incarceration, and payments to out-of-state contractors. When we can resolve problems locally, we keep resources here and have more control over outcomes that work for victims and our community. A State’s Attorney needs to exercise restraint and calm judgment. Prosecutors jeopardize a case when they make unnecessary public statements or commit themselves to a position before all the facts are known. Decisions should be based on the facts and the interests of justice, not anger, ego, or pressure to appear tough. A prosecutor needs the discipline to reassess a case as the facts develop and change course when the facts warrant it.

My Key Issues

Take Back The Power

Over the years, more and more decisions that once belonged to judges and local communities have been ripped away by statewide mandates or shifted to the Department of Corrections. At the same time, more of the money generated locally leaves our communities. As State’s Attorney, I want to use every bit of discretion the law gives us to put decision-making back where it belongs: with the people who know the cases, the people involved, and the Islanders affected by those decisions.
